The Virgin Mary is depicted in a frontal or three-quarter pose, her robe adorned in ornate gold and green tones, consistent with the celebrated Jasna Góra iconographic tradition. This piece forms the ninth issue in a series of twenty-four coins dedicated to famous Madonnas of the world. The rectangular format of the planchet frames the devotional image in a manner evoking a sacred panel painting or reliquary. |
