| 背面描述 | The reverse presents an upward perspective from beneath the baldacchino canopy of a Victory Pavilion at the National World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C. The central design element is a sculptural laurel wreath suspended by four eagles, within which a globe is depicted centered on the Pacific Ocean, evoking both the geographic sweep and the ultimate triumph of the Allied war effort. The surrounding legend reads 'UNITED STATES OF AMERICA' and 'E PLURIBUS UNUM,' with the commemorative inscription 'VICTORY IN THE AIR AT SEA ON LAND' and 'WWII MEMORIAL' arranged in the field. The denomination 'ONE DOLLAR' appears at the base of the design. The composition was engraved by Renata Gordon in a refined, architecturally inspired style that faithfully reproduces the memorial's monumental aesthetic. |

Authorized under the National World War II Memorial American Eagle Silver Dollar Coin Act, this issue directed a five-dollar surcharge from each sale toward the National World War II Memorial in Washington — the same funding mechanism used for the 1993 World War II commemoratives that helped build the memorial in the first place. Congress chose the "Greatest Generation" designation deliberately, borrowing Tom Brokaw's 1998 phrase as official statutory language, which is unusual for mint legislation.
Production was capped by statute, with the Philadelphia and San Francisco mints sharing striking duties across proof and uncirculated formats.
