| Reverse description | The reverse presents an upward perspective from beneath the baldacchino canopy of a Victory Pavilion at the National World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C. The central design element is a sculptural laurel wreath suspended by four eagles, within which a globe is depicted centered on the Pacific Ocean, evoking both the geographic sweep and the ultimate triumph of the Allied war effort. The surrounding legend reads 'UNITED STATES OF AMERICA' and 'E PLURIBUS UNUM,' with the commemorative inscription 'VICTORY IN THE AIR AT SEA ON LAND' and 'WWII MEMORIAL' arranged in the field. The denomination 'ONE DOLLAR' appears at the base of the design. The composition was engraved by Renata Gordon in a refined, architecturally inspired style that faithfully reproduces the memorial's monumental aesthetic. |
