正面描述 Bare-headed effigy of King George VI facing left, rendered in high relief after the portrait by Thomas Humphrey Paget, whose initials 'HP' appear in small incuse letters at the base of the neck truncation. The king is depicted in a naturalistic, unadorned style without crown or diadem. The surrounding Latin legend reads GEORGIVS VI D:G: REX ET IND:IMP:, separated by raised dots, running clockwise from the lower left to the lower right along the inner border. The field is smooth and the coin is framed by a fine beaded border.

附加信息

The 1939 Royal Visit dollar commemorates the first tour of North America by a reigning British monarch — George VI and Queen Elizabeth arrived in Canada in May of that year, partly as a deliberate exercise in shoring up Imperial solidarity ahead of a war that most in government already considered inevitable. The visit was also a calculated piece of diplomacy aimed at the United States, where the royal couple crossed the border to meet Roosevelt at Hyde Park.

The Ottawa Mint struck just over 1.3 million pieces, making this one of the more accessible Canadian silver dollars of the era — yet demand has always outpaced that number among collectors.
