| 正面铭文 | ELIZABETH II COOK ISLANDS 1 DOLLARS |
| 背面描述 | Central design featuring the mon (family crest) of Sakamoto Ryōma — a five-petalled plum blossom rendered within a geometric arrangement of interlocking diamond-shaped frames, all in raised relief against a darkened proof field. The name 坂本龍馬 (Sakamoto Ryōma) is inscribed in Japanese characters along the upper portion of the coin, reading from right to left. The commemorative inscription 生誕175周年記念 (175th Anniversary of Birth) appears along the lower arc of the coin in Japanese script. |

Sakamoto Ryōma was assassinated in Kyoto in 1867 at thirty-three, just months before the Meiji Restoration he had helped engineer. His role in brokering the Satchō Alliance — the pact between rival Satsuma and Chōshū domains that effectively ended the Tokugawa shogunate — was largely unrecognized in official records during his lifetime, as much of his work was covert. Cook Islands gold miniatures of this type were produced under license as collector premiums rather than circulating currency, with the .9999 fineness targeting bullion-adjacent buyers in the Japanese commemorative market.
