The engraver's initials RDM appear incuse at the base of the truncation. The portrait is rendered in fine relief against a mirror-polished field.

背面描述	Left-facing portrait bust of the German Romantic composer Robert Schumann, rendered in an engraved sketch style, occupying the left half of the field. Overlapping the portrait is a large treble clef in relief, which transitions into a background of musical staff lines bearing handwritten-style notation, evoking a manuscript score, filling the right half of the field. The legend ROBERT SCHUMANN and the composer's birth and death years 1810 – 1856 appear in italic script along the upper-right and lower-right periphery respectively. The Perth Mint's P mintmark and the engraver's initials RV are present in the lower field.
