Beschrijving keerzijde The reverse features a full-color applied image of an official Montreal Canadiens NHL hockey jersey artfully folded and arranged in the form of a heart, set against a pale blue circular field at the center of the coin. The jersey is rendered in the team's traditional red, with the iconic Canadiens roundel logo — a white letter H enclosed within a stylized blue-trimmed red C — prominently displayed at the chest. Blue and white striping details on the sleeves and lower body are clearly visible, faithfully reproducing the team's classic home uniform. The legend CANADA arcs along the upper rim, while DOLLAR 2009 appears in the lower exergual area, all lettering incuse against the coin's polished surround.

Aanvullende informatie

Issued as part of the Royal Canadian Mint's NHL team series, this coin was produced to mark the Canadiens' centennial season in 2008–09 — the franchise having been founded in 1909, making it the oldest professional hockey club in the world still operating. The series was a commercial licensing exercise as much as a numismatic one, with coins sold directly to collectors rather than circulating through the banking system.
