| 背面描述 | The reverse presents an architectural composition depicting the facade and nave elevation of the Duomo di Milano in high-relief, with its celebrated Gothic tracery, rose windows, and soaring marble spires rendered in precise detail across the right half of the oval field. The left half of the field features an openwork-style engraving of Gothic window tracery with interlocking quatrefoil motifs. A circular color-printed insert at the upper center again reproduces a stained-glass window image of the Virgin Mary in vivid reds, blues, and gold, consistent with the cathedral's interior glazing. The fineness mark Ag 925 appears in the lower left field. The legend · DUOMO · MILANO · curves along the upper border. |

Part of a broader wave of silver dollar issues that Niue — a self-governing territory in free association with New Zealand — licensed to foreign minting operations throughout the 2000s and 2010s. The island's legal authority to issue currency under New Zealand monetary arrangements made it a convenient vehicle for commemorative programs with no direct connection to Niuean history or culture. Milan's cathedral, the Duomo di Milano, took nearly six centuries to complete, from its foundation in 1386 under Gian Galeazzo Visconti to the final spire finial added in 1965.
