Obverse description The lower portion of the field features a finely detailed high-relief rendering of the Gothic roofline of the Milan Cathedral (Duomo di Milano), with its characteristic forest of pinnacles and spires receding in perspective. In the upper portion, a circular color-printed insert depicts a stained-glass window figure of the Virgin Mary, robed in red and blue against a radiant yellow background. To the right of center, a small raised medallion bearing the diademed effigy of Queen Elizabeth II in right-facing profile is set within the field. The legend NIUE ISLAND · 2010 · ELIZABETH II arcs around the upper and right portions of the oval border, while ONE DOLLAR appears in the lower exergue.
