Reverse description The reverse, designed by Stan Witten, depicts three Canadian ice hockey players in dynamic celebratory poses following the decisive victory over the Soviet Union in the 1972 Canada–USSR Summit Series. Two players raise their sticks triumphantly in the left foreground while a third figure is shown near the goal net at right, where a Soviet goaltender lies sprawled on the ice. The anniversary dates '1972' and '1997' flank a stylized maple leaf emblem in the upper right field. Bilingual inscriptions in French and English appear in the lower central field, with the denomination legend 'CANADA DOLLAR' arcing along the lower rim.
