| 表面の説明 | Right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, wearing a tiara and pearl earring, rendered in the fourth definitive portrait by Ian Rank-Broadley. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs across the upper left field and NIUE ISLAND along the upper right. The denomination 1 DOLLAR and the date 2015 are inscribed along the lower rim, flanked by a dotted border. The engraver's initials IRB appear below the bust, with the fineness mark Ag999 to the right. The portrait is executed in high relief against a polished mirror field. |

| 裏面の説明 | A vivid color-printed close-up portrait of a juvenile Emperor Tamarin (Saguinus imperator) dominates the reverse field, capturing the animal's wide dark eyes, rust-brown crown fur, and distinctive white moustache in striking naturalistic detail. To the right, an incuse relief cameo depicts an adult Emperor Tamarin in a seated pose, providing tonal contrast against the colored central image. The species name EMPEROR TAMARIN is engraved in spaced capital letters arcing along the upper rim within a polished beaded border. The composition skillfully integrates full-color photography with traditional coin relief engraving. |

Niue has operated as a prolific licensing hub for commemorative silver issues since the 1990s, contracting with private mints to produce wildlife and nature series sold directly to collectors. These pieces never circulate on the island — Niue's actual monetary needs are met by New Zealand currency — making the "1 Dollar" denomination a legal fiction underwritten by a treaty arrangement with New Zealand that grants Niue the right to issue coin.
The Emperor Tamarin takes its name from a fanciful resemblance to Kaiser Wilhelm II, a comparison first made by researchers and eventually adopted as common usage.
