| Obverse description | The coin is struck in the shape of a curling stone viewed from the side, with the handle at the top incorporating a serialized number panel reading '0001'. The obverse features a right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II in the lower central field, rendered in high relief. Solomon Islands has issued commemorative coinage under its own authority since independence in 1978, but the vast majority of its collector-market silver output is contracted through external minting and distribution agents — the Central Bank functions largely as licensor rather than producer. Curling was introduced to the Winter Olympics in 1998 at Nagano as a full medal sport after decades as a demonstration event, a detail that gives this series its nominal hook.
