Beschrijving keerzijde The reverse depicts a colorized scene commemorating the Battle of the Bulge, showing an Allied soldier in full combat gear advancing through a dense winter forest, viewed from behind. A second soldier is visible in the left background amid the trees, evoking the Ardennes landscape of the campaign. The gold-toned relief scene is set against a deeply recessed mirror field, creating a strong contrast. The arc legend BATTLE OF THE BULGE spans the upper periphery, while the campaign dates DECEMBER 1944 · JANUARY 1945 arc along the lower border.

Aanvullende informatie

The Battle of the Bulge — Germany's last major offensive on the Western Front, launched through the Ardennes in December 1944 — was a desperate gamble by Hitler to split Allied lines and recapture Antwerp. It failed at enormous cost to both sides, with American casualties alone exceeding 75,000. Niue has issued commemorative dollars under licensing arrangements since the 1990s, functioning essentially as a vehicle for collectible struck pieces with nominal legal tender status on an island of roughly 1,500 people.

The KM#3551 reference places this among a sprawling series of similarly produced issues.
