Beschrijving voorzijde Sixth definitive effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Jody Clark, depicted in right-facing portrait wearing the George IV State Diadem, with a pearl necklace visible at the base of the neck. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs across the upper field, with AUSTRALIA continuing along the right periphery. The denomination 1 DOLLAR appears in the lower border segment, separated from the portrait field by a raised inner rim. The engraver's initials JC appear discreetly in the lower left field adjacent to the truncation.

Aanvullende informatie

The Hand of Faith nugget, found in 1980 near Kingower, Victoria by Kevin Hillier using a metal detector, is the largest gold nugget in existence still intact — weighing 27.66 kg. It was sold to the Golden Nugget Casino in Las Vegas for approximately one million dollars and remains on public display there. Perth Mint has returned to it repeatedly as a bullion series subject, trading on its status as one of Australia's most recognizable gold finds despite the obvious irony of commemorating gold on silver.
