The Hand of Faith nugget, found in 1980 near Kingower, Victoria by Kevin Hillier using a metal detector, is the largest gold nugget in existence still intact — weighing 27.66 kg. It was sold to the Golden Nugget Casino in Las Vegas for approximately one million dollars and remains on public display there. Perth Mint has returned to it repeatedly as a bullion series subject, trading on its status as one of Australia's most recognizable gold finds despite the obvious irony of commemorating gold on silver.
