| 正面描述 | Right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara, as sculpted by Ian Rank-Broadley for the fourth definitive portrait. The legend ELIZABETH II flanked by raised dots arcs across the upper field, with AUSTRALIA 2012 continuing along the right periphery. The denomination 1 DOLLAR is inscribed along the lower rim, and the engraver's initials IRB appear truncated at the base of the portrait. |

Part of the Perth Mint's "Young Collectors" series aimed at introducing children to coin collecting, this issue used pad printing — an industrial transfer process borrowed from promotional merchandise manufacturing — to apply color directly onto the coin surface. The technique was still relatively novel in Australian numismatics at the time and produced results that age unpredictably, making fully intact examples harder to find than mintage figures suggest.
