The legend VICTORIA D: G: BRITANNIAR: REGINA F: D: encircles the central effigy on the inset coin, with the date 1855 appearing in the exergue. A small cameo effigy of Queen Elizabeth II in the Ian Rank-Broadley fourth portrait appears at the top of the outer ring, serving as the contemporary issuing authority's portrait.
