| Beschrijving keerzijde | The central field features a dynamic composition of four surf lifesavers rendered in frosted relief, depicted in vigorous motion as they emerge through breaking waves, evoking the spirit of Australian surf life saving culture. The legend 'Year of the' arcs across the upper field, while 'SURF LIFESAVER' curves along the right periphery. The denomination '1 DOLLAR' is prominently displayed in the lower field, with the numeral '1' rendered in a bold stylised font above the word 'DOLLAR', all set against a highly polished mirror background. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
The surf lifesaving movement in Australia dates to 1907, and this coin was struck to mark that centenary. Surf Life Saving Australia, formed after a series of drownings at Sydney's ocean beaches prompted lifesaving clubs to organize formally, became one of the country's most recognizable volunteer institutions. The timing of the centenary issue coincided with the organization claiming over 140,000 active members.
The RAM struck this as a .999 fine proof alongside a base-metal circulation version under the same KM parent type — the 'a' suffix distinguishing the silver strike.
