Obverse description The fourth portrait effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Ian Rank-Broadley, is depicted in right-facing profile, wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara. The legend ELIZABETH II is inscribed along the upper left periphery, with a central dot separator, and AUSTRALIA 2006 along the upper right periphery, also separated by dots. The denomination 1 DOLLAR appears along the lower border, flanked by two raised dots. The engraver's initials IRB appear incuse beneath the Queen's truncation. The mirrored proof fields provide a sharp contrast against the frosted effigy.

Reverse description The reverse features overlapping bust portraits of Sir Joseph Banks and Caroline Chisholm, both depicted in three-quarter facing profile against a coloured background of concentric horizontal bands in warm amber, orange, and deep red tones, evoking the design aesthetic associated with Australian banknotes of the pre-decimal era. Sir Joseph Banks is shown prominently on the left in period dress with a decorative collar, while Caroline Chisholm appears to his right in a bonnet with curled hair. Their names are inscribed in flowing serif script along a curved ribbon in the lower field: SIR JOSEPH BANKS to the left and CAROLINE CHISHOLM to the right. The inscription 1oz 999 SILVER appears vertically along the left inner border, with the Perth Mint's P mintmark and the designer's initials SWB visible in the lower central field.
