Reverse description The original Commonwealth of Australia Coat of Arms, as granted in 1908 and used until 1912, is depicted centrally in high relief. The shield, divided into six quarterings representing the founding states, is supported by a kangaroo to the left and an emu to the right, both standing on a decorative grassy mound. A seven-pointed Commonwealth Star surmounts a wreath above the shield. A scrolled ribbon beneath the supporters bears the motto ADVANCE AUSTRALIA, while the circumferential legend reads COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA COAT OF ARMS 1908-1912, and the denomination ONE DOLLAR appears in the lower field. The Canberra mint mark C is positioned to the right of the star.
