Aversbeschreibung The obverse displays the full coat of arms of Trinidad and Tobago centered in the field. The shield, supported by a Scarlet Ibis on the dexter side and a Cocrico bird on the sinister side, bears three Columbus ships in the lower portion and two hummingbirds above a chevron. The crest above features a ship's wheel surmounted by a palm tree, flanked by elaborate mantling. A scroll at the base carries the national motto legend, and the engraver's initials 'CC' appear discreetly to the right of the shield.

Zusätzliche Informationen

Trinidad and Tobago's decimal coinage series was introduced in 1964, two years after independence from Britain, with designs commissioned from the Royal Mint. The 1971 dollar falls within the early production run of this series, struck at the Royal Mint in Llantrisant, which had only relocated from Tower Hill the previous year — making these among the first Caribbean issues produced at the new Welsh facility.
