| Beschrijving voorzijde | The obverse depicts the national coat of arms of Palau centered within the field, rendered in fine relief: a heart-shaped shield bearing a traditional scene with a figure holding a trident flanked by a mermaid and a sea turtle, surmounted by a native outrigger canoe in high relief above the shield. The curved legend REPUBLIC OF PALAU arcs along the upper periphery, accompanied by a ring of six-pointed stars flanking the shield on either side. The commemorative dual dates 1859 and 2009, marking the 150th anniversary of the founding of the Salesian order, are inscribed in two lines to the lower right of the portrait within the open field. |
