Niue has operated a licensing-based commemorative coin program since the 1990s, contracting the rights to third-party intellectual properties — Disney characters among them — and issuing legal tender under New Zealand monetary authority. The arrangement is purely revenue-driven; these coins circulate nowhere and are produced entirely for the collector market.
Charles III's effigy appears here in his first years as monarch following the death of Elizabeth II in September 2022.
