The "Reaper" series from New Zealand's Niue issues — struck under the effigy authority of Charles III following Elizabeth II's death in September 2022 — occupies an odd commercial niche: legal tender coins designed primarily as bullion-adjacent collectibles for the death-themed numismatic market. Niue's arrangement with New Zealand allows it to issue coins bearing the British monarch's portrait despite having no independent monetary system to speak of.
This is the third installment of six in the series. The 41.67g weight corresponds to a standard 1.338 troy ounce format used across several New Zealand Mint program runs.
