Niue's licensing arrangements with Finland's Moomin Characters Oy have produced a long-running series of collectible issues struck under the Pacific island's monetary agreement with New Zealand. At 0.031 g of .9999 gold, this falls into the "mini gold" category — a format popularized in the early 2010s and now ubiquitous among boutique mint programs targeting collector markets rather than any circulation function.
