| Descrizione del dritto | The obverse is shaped as the sail and prow of a Viking longship, rendered in high relief with gold plating, displaying finely engraved strakes, rigging lines, and a row of round shields along the lower hull. The Public Seal of Niue, featuring a crowned circular cartouche with floral motifs and crossed foliage, is prominently struck in the upper central field of the sail. Surrounding the seal is the legend PUBLIC SEAL OF NIUE above and ATUA / NIUE TUKULAGI below, with the date 2026 inscribed beneath the seal in the mid-field. The denomination 1 Dollar and the issuing territory NIUE ISLAND appear in an incuse legend following the curve of the lower hull. |

Harald Fairhair — Hårfagre in Norse — is traditionally credited with unifying Norway under a single crown following the Battle of Hafrsfjord, dated by most scholars to somewhere between 872 and 900 AD. The exact year remains disputed, which hasn't stopped Norway from treating it as foundational. Niue has issued numismatic silver under its Crown relationship since the 1980s, producing an enormous range of commemorative types for the international collector market rather than domestic circulation.
Charles III's effigy appearing on a coin honoring a Viking king is a pairing with no political logic beyond licensing convenience.
