| 裏面の説明 | The central field is dominated by a full-color photographic-style depiction of a Blue Tang surgeonfish (Acanthurus coeruleus), rendered with vivid blue body coloration and a distinctive yellow-green lateral stripe curving from the pectoral region toward the caudal peduncle. The fish is shown in profile against a stylized underwater reef environment in shades of blue and aquamarine. The legend 'MARINE LIFE PROTECTION' arcs along the upper periphery within a beaded border, emphasizing the conservation theme of the series. The coloring is applied over a milled copper-nickel flan, a technique characteristic of Palau's Marine Life Protection commemorative issues. |

Palau's marine-themed collector series, launched in the 1990s, was among the first to apply color printing directly to circulating-format coinage — a technique that was technically crude in early runs but had matured considerably by 2007. The Blue Surgeon Fish issue belongs to a later wave of that program, produced for the international collector market rather than any domestic monetary purpose; Palau uses the US dollar in everyday commerce and has no practical need for its own coinage.
