The Aranda orchid series — issued by MAS as legal tender collectibles — assigns each variety to a notable Singaporean figure, making the coin's subject as deliberate a choice as its botanical namesake.
The Aranda orchid itself is a hybrid genus developed in Singapore, where the National Parks Board has long used orchid naming as a form of civic honor.
