The denomination "Dr 1." appears in the upper left and upper right corners, with the place and date of issue "Port-Louis, 1st September 1842" centered at the top. Reverse description The reverse carries an ornate engraved design with a large guilloché numeral "15" vignette at the left within an oval lathe-work surround, flanked by a finely engine-turned vertical border. A landscape vignette of low hills appears beneath the central ornamental cartouche, and partial inscriptions including "MAURITIUS", "Promise", "Bearer", and "FIFTEEN" are visible to the right, consistent with the note's fractional pound equivalent.
