Obverse description The national arms of Uruguay displayed centrally within an oval cartouche, the quartered shield depicting scales of justice, a hill, and two oxen, encircled by a laurel wreath and flanked by crossed flags, cannon, and other military trophies. Above the shield, a radiant sun with a facing human visage emits long straight rays into the upper field. A small five-pointed star appears in the lower field below the wreath. The circumferential legend REPUBLICA ORIENTAL DEL URUGUAY is arranged along the inner border, with a beaded border encircling the entire design.

Reverse description The denomination presented in two lines at the centre of the field, reading '1' above 'DOBLON' in bold incuse lettering, all enclosed within a laurel wreath tied at the base with a ribbon bow. The motto legend LIBRE Y CONSTITUIDA curves along the upper periphery inside the beaded border. The date 1870 appears in the exergue below the wreath, with a beaded border encircling the entire design.
