| Obverse description | Aniconic field divided into concentric zones of dense Kufic Arabic script in the Abbasid dirham tradition. The central field contains the Islamic profession of faith (Shahada) arranged in multiple horizontal lines, with the mint formula occupying the lower portion of the field, recording the mint name Firrim and the date 363 AH. An inner ring separates the central inscription from an outer marginal legend, which carries the Quranic verse from Surat al-Tawba (9:33). The overall composition is typical of post-reform Islamic silver coinage, executed in bold hammered relief on an irregular flan showing light surface oxidation. |
