| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central field dominated by a large stylised rosette or multi-petalled floral ornament in high relief, characteristic of late Rasulid decorative coinage. The rosette is surrounded by a dense circular band of Arabic legends arranged in concentric registers, the innermost forming a ring tightly encircling the floral device. The legends are executed in a compressed Naskh-derived script typical of Yemeni hammered silver of the 9th AH century. The flan is irregular with areas of weakness and slight chipping at the edges, consistent with hand-struck production. The overall design conveys the ornate artistic sensibility of Rasulid mint work. |
