The Shahada and related formulae are rendered in angular Kufic script typical of late 4th-century AH coinage. A beaded or pellet border frames the inner legend area, with a marginal circular legend running between the inner and outer borders, itself bounded by a further dotted or beaded rim. The flan is irregular and slightly convex, with characteristic surface granularity of hammered silver dirhams.

The marginal legend encircles the central text panel between the two concentric borders and contains additional religious or dynastic formulae. The name of the Uqaylid ruler Abu'l-Mujallah Jirji b. Qumayd and/or the Abbasid caliph's name likely appear in the central or marginal field in accordance with the numismatic conventions of the period. The flan edges are irregular and clipped, consistent with hammered silver coinage of the early 5th century AH.
