Obverse description Central field bearing a multi-line Arabic religious inscription arranged in horizontal registers within a plain inner circle. The Shahada and related formulae are rendered in angular Kufic script typical of late 4th-century AH coinage. A beaded or pellet border frames the inner legend area, with a marginal circular legend running between the inner and outer borders, itself bounded by a further dotted or beaded rim. The flan is irregular and slightly convex, with characteristic surface granularity of hammered silver dirhams.
