An outer marginal band carries the Quranic verse of mission (Quran 9:33) in flowing Kufic, running continuously around the coin's circumference. The flan is irregular in outline, characteristic of hand-struck medieval Islamic gold coinage. All lettering is raised against a flat, unadorned field. |
