| 表面の説明 | Central field occupied by the crowned Visconti biscione device — a large crowned serpent (biscia) displayed with a smaller figure emerging from its jaws — rendered in the bold, stylised manner typical of Milanese hammered billon coinage of the early fifteenth century. The central charge is surmounted by a ducal crown, with the sinuous body of the serpent filling the lower field. A circular beaded inner border encloses the device, beyond which runs the Latin peripheral legend FILIPVS MARIA, identifying the issuing duke, Filippo Maria Visconti. The flan is irregular in shape, as is characteristic of hand-struck medieval denari, and the overall relief is low with some weakness of strike. |
