Joseph-François Domard was a prolific medallist at the Paris Mint who submitted competing designs during the transitional period following the July Revolution of 1830, when Charles X was deposed and the Orléanist monarchy under Louis-Philippe took shape. Pattern coinage from this moment was produced in abundance as the new regime auditioned designs for a completely reconceived monetary identity. Domard's submission never advanced to circulation.
The Gayrard reference 207 places this among a cluster of competing 1-décime proposals, none of which were adopted.
