| Obverse description | Blue on polychrome underprint, printed in intaglio and offset. A central oval vignette carries a portrait of Pedro Álvares Cabral (1467/68–1520), discoverer of Brazil, surrounded by the legend 'REPÚBLICA DOS ESTADOS UNIDOS DO BRASIL' above and 'MIL CRUZEIROS / VALOR LEGAL' below; serial and plate numbers appear at left and right, flanked by the signatures of the Director of the Amortization Fund and the Minister of Finance. A circular black overprint stamp reading 'BANCO CENTRAL - 1 CRUZEIRO NOVO' is applied over the face of the note, revaluing the original 1000 Cruzeiros issue. |
