Obverse description A crowned Tudor rose occupies the centre of the field, its petals rendered in fine relief, flanked on either side by the royal monogram 'I R' (Iacobus Rex). The crown surmounting the rose is of the Stuart type with prominent fleurs-de-lis and crosses pattée. The design is enclosed within a beaded inner circle, with the Latin legend running continuously around the periphery between the inner and outer beaded borders.
