| 正面描述 | Laureate and draped bust of King Henri Christophe facing right, clad in regal armour with ornate epaulettes and a knotted cravat at the neck. The portrait is rendered in high relief with finely detailed hair bound by a laurel wreath. The circular legend HENRICUS DEI GRATIA HAITI REX runs along the outer border, and the date 1820 appears in the lower exergual area beneath the truncation. The coin's field is otherwise plain, framed by a finely toothed inner border. |

Henri Christophe ruled the northern Kingdom of Haiti from 1811 until October 1820, when a stroke left him partially paralyzed and a military revolt closed in on his palace at Sans-Souci. He shot himself before the rebels reached him. These essais — pattern strikes rather than circulating issues — were produced in the final year of his reign and almost certainly never saw official authorization for release. Whether they represent an aborted monetary reform or simply a mintmaster's trial is unclear from surviving records.
