(Translation: Henri by the Grace of God King of Haiti 1820)
Reverse description Central crowned oval shield bearing a rising phoenix amid flames, encircled by the motto EX CINERISVS NASCITVR along the inner border of the shield. The shield is flanked on either side by the crowned royal monogram letters H and M. The circumferential legend DEVS. CAVSA. ATQVE GLADIVS MEVS reads around the upper border, while H L M and L'AN 17 appear in the lower field, referencing the Haitian regnal year. The entire design is enclosed within a fine toothed milled border.
