The shield is flanked on either side by the crowned royal monogram letters H and M. The circumferential legend DEVS. CAVSA. ATQVE GLADIVS MEVS reads around the upper border, while H L M and L'AN 17 appear in the lower field, referencing the Haitian regnal year. The entire design is enclosed within a fine toothed milled border. |
