Below the shield, a ribbon cartouche bears the motto DIEU ET MON DROIT in two segments. The circular legend BRITANNIARUM REX FID: DEF: runs around the upper periphery, separated from the toothed border by a raised rim. The composition is rendered in high relief with finely detailed engraving consistent with the work of Jean Baptiste Merlen. |
