| Beschrijving keerzijde | A highly detailed forward-facing bust of a roaring tiger occupies the central field within an inner circle, rendered in fine engraved relief with boldly delineated stripes and bared fangs. To the right, a vertical column of Chinese calligraphic characters accompanies a red seal stamp, referencing the Year of the Tiger in the Chinese zodiac tradition. The Isle of Man triskelion shield appears as a small emblem at the top of the inner circle. The legend YEAR OF THE TIGER arcs around the upper periphery, while the denomination 1 CROWN is displayed in the lower exergue, flanked by two raised dots. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Pobjoy Mint struck this piece for the Isle of Man's long-running lunar series, one of the earliest Western mint programs to systematically follow the Chinese calendar cycle. The 1998 Tiger issue arrived the same year Hong Kong's handover to China was still raw news, which gave the Asian-themed coinage an unusual cultural currency it might not otherwise have carried in British Crown dependency collecting circles.
