| Additional information |
The Vickers VC10 was a rear-engined jet airliner built by Vickers-Armstrongs and first flown in 1962, designed partly to meet BOAC's demanding requirement for hot-and-high airfield performance across African and Asian routes. The RAF acquired a fleet of VC10s for strategic transport, and later converted several into air-to-air refuelling tankers that remained operational well into the 2010s. Gibraltar's Crown series has long used the format to commemorate British aviation milestones, issuing pieces for specific aircraft types with little connection to the territory itself beyond the issuing authority.
