| Beschrijving keerzijde | Central design depicting a period sailing vessel with full rigging in the foreground, set against a detailed view of Castle Rushen, the historic medieval fortress at Castletown, Isle of Man, with its crenellated towers and flag flying from the keep. Small decorative anchors or triskelion motifs appear at the lower left and right of the central device. The entire design is enclosed within a prominent rope or chain border. The arc legend MILLENNIUM OF TYNWALD runs along the upper field, while ONE CROWN is inscribed along the lower field, both separated by raised dot stops, commemorating the one-thousandth anniversary of the Manx parliament. |

Struck to mark the 1000th anniversary of Tynwald, the Isle of Man's parliament and one of the oldest continuous legislative assemblies in the world. The celebration drew unusual international attention — Queen Elizabeth II attended the commemorative sitting at St. John's in July 1979, a rare instance of the sovereign presiding in person over a dependent territory's parliament rather than being represented by a Lieutenant Governor.
The .925 silver version was issued alongside a cupro-nickel circulation strike, a split that had become standard Pobjoy Mint practice for Manx commemoratives by this point.
