| 裏面の説明 | Two male hurdlers in dynamic mid-stride pose are depicted overlapping one another, conveying speed and athletic competition, with the iconic silhouette of the Sydney Opera House rendered in the lower field beneath them. The year notation '2000' appears in small figures at the lower left of the field. The arc legend SUMMER OLYMPICS · SYDNEY curves along the upper border, and the denomination ONE CROWN is inscribed along the lower border. A fine dentilated border surrounds the entire design. |

Issued to mark the 1999 Island Games held on Gotland, Sweden, this crown is one of several athletic-themed pieces the Isle of Man Treasury produced for the biennial multi-sport event that the island itself founded in 1984. The Games grew from a proposal by Isle of Man Sports Council official Arthur Bell, originally conceived as a small competition for island territories excluded from mainstream international sport.
KM#930a denotes the silver variant; a cupro-nickel version was struck simultaneously for general circulation.
