Reverse description Central scene depicting two association football players in dynamic action: a forward in mid-slide driving a ball low beneath the outstretched dive of a goalkeeper, capturing the decisive moment of a goal-scoring attempt. To the upper left, the legend WORLD CUP arcs around the rim, while the year 1994 appears to the upper right accompanied by a small eagle emblem representing the host nation. The stylised inscription U.S.A. is prominently displayed across the centre of the field over a banner of stars and stripes. The denomination 1 CROWN appears in the lower exergue, flanked by raised dots, all within a beaded border.

Additional information

Gibraltar's 1994 football series was issued in direct anticipation of the 1994 FIFA World Cup held in the United States — a tournament notable for its record aggregate attendance and, less charitably, for some of the lowest-scoring matches in World Cup history. The irony of commemorating a player scoring beneath a diving goalkeeper during the most defensively cautious World Cup on record was presumably lost on the issuing authority.
