Pobjoy Mint struck this crown for the Isle of Man's participation in the 1980 Moscow Olympics — Games famously boycotted by the United States, West Germany, Japan, and roughly 60 other nations in protest of the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. The Isle of Man, as a Crown dependency without independent Olympic representation, had no boycott decision to make.
