| Obverse description | Right-facing draped bust of Queen Elizabeth II, wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara, as rendered in Arnold Machin's celebrated portrait effigy. The legend ISLE OF MAN arcs along the left periphery and ELIZABETH II along the right, with the date 1979 positioned in the lower field below the truncation. A toothed border frames the design. The effigy is rendered with fine detail in the hair and drapery, characteristic of Machin's second portrait used on Commonwealth coinage. |
