The scene is framed by a wreath of laurel branches and flanked by two RAF roundel motifs. An inner ribbon at the top of the wreath bears the inscription BATTLE OF BRITAIN. The legend ENEMY APPROACHING - SCRAMBLE arcs boldly around the upper periphery, while ONE CROWN appears along the lower border.
